LegCo to consider Road Traffic (Amendment) (Autonomous Vehicles) Bill 2022

The following is issued on behalf of the Legislative Council Secretariat:
The Legislative Council (LegCo) will hold a meeting on Wednesday (May 24) at 11am in the Chamber of the LegCo Complex. During the meeting, the Second Reading debate on the Road Traffic (Amendment) (Autonomous Vehicles) Bill 2022 will resume. If the Bill is supported by Members and receives its Second Reading, it will stand committed to the committee of the whole Council. After the committee of the whole Council has completed consideration of the Bill and its report is adopted by the Council, the Bill will be set down for the Third Reading.
On Government motions, the Chief Secretary for Administration will move two proposed resolutions under the Criminal Procedure Ordinance and Coroners Ordinance to respectively seek to increase the maximum allowances payable to ordinary witnesses, professional witnesses and expert witnesses in criminal proceedings and coroners' inquests. The proposed resolutions are set out in Appendices 1 and 2.
On Members' motions, Dr Johnny Ng will move a motion on stepping up the promotion of gerontechnology to enhance the quality of life of the silver-haired group and tackle population ageing. The motion is set out in Appendix 3. Mr Tony Tse, Mr Yim Kong, Mr Shang Hailong, Mr Tang Ka-piu and Mr Ma Fung-kwok will move amendments to Dr Ng's motion.
Dr David Lam will move a motion on implementing co-operation with the Mainland in organ transplant. The motion is set out in Appendix 4.
Meanwhile, Mr Dennis Leung will move a proposed resolution under section 34(4) of the Interpretation and General Clauses Ordinance to extend the period for amending subsidiary legislations. The proposed resolution is set out in Appendix 5.
During the meeting, the Chief Secretary for Administration will present the Government Minutes in response to the Report of the Public Accounts Committee No. 78 of February 2023 and Report of the Public Accounts Committee No. 79 of February 2023 and address the Council.
Members will also ask the Government 22 questions on various policy areas, six of which require oral replies.
