This morning, the Gala held a seminar for participating teachers to share their research findings. Dr Choi, together with a delegation of principals and teachers from Hong Kong, attended the closing ceremony of the Gala. She said that the activities over the past few days helped deepen professional exchanges between principals and teachers from Hong Kong and Chinese education practitioners from across the country and overseas, as well as enabled them to keep abreast of the latest developments on the Mainland, broaden their horizons and enhance their professional capacity.
Dr Choi also visited Chongqing Renmin Primary School and Chongqing Nankai Secondary School to learn about the education philosophy and practices of local primary and secondary schools, and exchange ideas with education counterparts.
Yesterday morning, Dr Choi called on representatives of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the Sichuan Provincial People's Government and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education in Chengdu to exchange views on various education issues. She pointed out that Hong Kong has maintained close ties with Sichuan Province. The Education Bureau and the Sichuan Provincial Department of Education have been proactively promoting different educational exchange and collaboration projects since their signing of a memorandum of understanding on education co-operation in 2013. She believed that the two places would further deepen the co-operation and foster mutual development of education in the future.
On the same afternoon, Dr Choi visited Sichuan University and met its leaders. She said that higher education institutions in Hong Kong and Sichuan have been conducting professional exchanges in various ways with collaboration in areas covering talent cultivation, student admission and employment, and scientific research. The Education Bureau will continue to support exchanges and co-operation between the higher education institutions of the two places to nurture talent for the development of the country.
Dr Choi also met representatives of the Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce in Sichuan to understand how Hong Kong enterprises run business and arrange internship opportunities for Hong Kong students in Sichuan. She then called at Little Scientists, a Hong Kong education enterprise, to learn about its experience in promoting STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) education for young children.
On the same evening, Dr Choi met Hong Kong students and young entrepreneurs living in Chengdu. She said that Hong Kong youths living there can have a deep understanding of the country's development and affection for the country. She encouraged them to grasp the study and work opportunities for contribution to the high-quality development of the country.
Dr Choi concluded her five-day visit today and will return to Hong Kong tomorrow morning (April 28).
