Sham Shui Po Public Library to come into full operation on March 30 (with photos)

The Sham Shui Po Public Library will come into full operation on March 30 (Thursday), providing residents in the district comprehensive and diverse library services. Members of the public can enjoy the pleasure of reading in a quiet and relaxing environment. The Students' Study Room of the library has been providing services since October last year.
The Sham Shui Po Public Library is located on the ground and first floors of the Sham Shui Po Leisure and Cultural Building at 38 Sham Mong Road. It has a collection of about 170 000 items covering Chinese and English books as well as audio compact discs. More than 150 local and overseas newspapers and periodical titles are also available for reading by the public. Moreover, an adult library and a children's library, a multimedia library, a computer and information centre, self-service book borrowing and renewal service, self-service return service and an extension activities room are also available at the new library.
To promote reading among the public, the library will organise regularly different types of extension activities including book displays, storytelling for children, subject talks and user education sessions and more. Schools and members of cultural and educational organisations are welcome to contact the library for group visits to learn more about its facilities and services.
In addition, the Multi-Purpose Display and Reading Area of the Hong Kong Central Library (HKCL) on the first floor of the Sham Shui Po Public Library will hold regular thematic exhibitions to introduce collections and documents of the HKCL. The area will also show library online programmes or live broadcast the subject talks being held at the HKCL to promote its collections and activities.
The opening hours of the Sham Shui Po Public Library will be from noon to 8pm on Mondays, from 9am to 8pm from Tuesdays to Saturdays, and from 9am to 5pm on Sundays and public holidays. For enquiries, please call 2234 5122.
Members of the public who plan to visit the Sham Shui Po Public Library can walk from Exit A1 of Nam Cheong MTR Station for about 10 minutes, or take various bus and minibus routes there.
