After the "2022 Hong Kong-Macao Visual Art Biennale" was staged in Beijing from December 12 to 18, 2022, it is moved to the Museum of Contemporary Art & Planning in Shenzhen starting from December 30, 2022 until February 19, 2023. It is the first time for the biennale to be held in Shenzhen.
      
     The theme of this year's biennale is "Perceptual & Intellectual" and the biennale is composed of three sections, namely the Mainland, Macao and Hong Kong sections. The sub-themes of the Hong Kong and Macao sections are "Perceptual & Intellectual - Explorations into Everything and Oneself" and "Digital Text: A New Cognition of Culture". In the Mainland section, the Shenzhen stop, against the background of deep integration and development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has adopted a sub-theme of "Perceptual & Intellectual - The Coexistence realm of Humanity and Creation", in which the main component is contributed by artists from the Guangdong area. The section is an independent curatorial exhibition, which demonstrates the latest exploration of "Art, Science, Technology" by artists from the Greater Bay Area.
      
     Over 20 artists or art groups from Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China took part in the Shenzhen stop of the biennale. These artists showcase their understanding and exploration of science and technology, art, ecology and the individual through the biennale. In their works, these issues are brought in to shape a powerful dialogue.
      
     The Hong Kong section of the exhibition is curated by the Hong Kong Museum of Art in collaboration with Art Tech Partner,  Ng Tsz-kwan. It features artwork installations and interactive new media creations by six Hong Kong artists, namely Joseph Chan, Chris Cheung, Tung Wing-hong, Kenny Wong and duo Samuel Yip and Janice To. The exhibition aims to present how technology - from mechanics to electronics, digitalisation to artificial intelligence - can be applied and expanded to creative works, and explores how humans communicate with nature and the inner voice through a blend of arts, science and technology.
      
     The "2022 Hong Kong-Macao Visual Art Biennale" is jointly presented by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism; the Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region; and the Secretariat for Social Affairs and Culture of the Government of the Macao Special Administrative Region. It has built an important platform for the exchange among young artists from Hong Kong, Macao and Mainland China since 2008.
      
     An online virtual exhibition (www.720yun.com/vr/73a22uru9ni) has been set up for this year's biennale for the Beijing stop. The online virtual exhibition will be on display simultaneously with the physical exhibition in Shenzhen.
