Sessions on "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC" held by Southern, Sham Shui Po, Tuen Mun, Yau Tsim Mong, Sha Tin and Wan Chai District Offices (with photos)

Following the fifth session held on November 17, the SDO held two sessions on "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC" today (November 21) and yesterday (November 20). The session today, titled "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and Policy Address 2022", was jointly held by the SDO, the Hong Kong Southern District Community Association, the Southern District Constructive Power, the Hong Kong Island Federation, the Southern District Joint Schools Conference and the Federation of Parent-Teacher Associations, Southern District, Hong Kong, at the Aberdeen Technical School. The Under Secretary for Education, Mr Sze Chun-fai, Members of the Legislative Council (LegCo), Mr Chan Hok-fung, Mr Peter Douglas Koon and Mr So Cheung-wing, and the Deputy Division Chief of the Publicity and Education Division of the Hong Kong Island Sub-office of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government (LOCPG) in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), Mr Huang Pengju, were invited as keynote speakers. The District Officer (Southern), Mr Francis Cheng also spoke at the session. The speakers pointed out that "one country, two systems" is the best institutional system for ensuring sustained prosperity and stability in Hong Kong, and must be adhered to over the long term. They also encouraged young people to proactively equip themselves to contribute more to the country and Hong Kong. About 150 participants attended the session, including school principals, teachers, parents and students from the Southern District. The session yesterday, titled "To Learn about, Promote and Implement Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC", was jointly held by the SDO, the Hong Kong Southern District Community Women Association Activities Committee, the Hong Kong Southern District Community Association, the Southern District Constructive Power and the Hong Kong Island Federation Southern District Committee at the South Horizons Neighbourhood Community Centre. The Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council and Member of the LegCo Mrs Regina Ip, and Members of the LegCo Mr Chan Hok-fung and Ms Judy Chan, were invited as the keynote speakers. They said that all members of society should study the ethos underpinning the 20th National Congress of the CPC thoroughly and seize the opportunities provided by national development so as to contribute to the development of the country and Hong Kong. The Deputy Division Chief of the Publicity and Education Division of the Hong Kong Island Sub-office of the LOCPG in the HKSAR, Mr Huang Pengju, and the Assistant District Officer (Southern), Miss Abby Ma, also spoke at the session. About 100 participants attended the session, including the members of women's groups from the Southern District.
Following the two sessions held on October 30 and November 10, the SSPDO, together with the Sham Shui Po Branch of the Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, held a session on "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC" at Shek Kip Mei Community Hall yesterday. Member of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC) Mr Tam Yiu-chung was present as keynote speaker. He summarised the key points concerning the Chinese path to modernisation and the second centenary goal. He also stressed that the Chinese nation has adhered to the principle of "one country, two systems" over the long term. Hong Kong should better integrate into national development and to accelerate the creation of a new development pattern. The District Officer (Sham Shui Po), Mr Paul Wong, also spoke at the session. About 200 participants attended the session, including leaders of district bodies as well as local residents of Sham Shui Po.
The TMDO, together with the New Territories Association of Societies Tuen Mun District Committee (NTASTMDC), held a session on "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC" at the hall of the Ching Chung Taoist Association Building on November 19. Member of the Standing Committee of the NPC Mr Tam Yiu-chung was invited as keynote speaker. He reviewed the accomplishment of the country since the 18th National Congress of the CPC, stressing the victory over poverty alleviation. He also said that the report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC illustrated the Chinese characteristics and objectives of the Chinese path to modernisation and outlined a people-centered philosophy of development to push forward Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. The District Officer (Tuen Mun), Ms Aubrey Fung, also delivered a speech and stressed the great importance the Central Government attaches to the "one country, two systems" arrangement and their full support of it. About 550 participants attended the session, including Members of the Legco Mr Chow Ho-ding and Mr Luk Chung-hung, the NTASTMDC Chairman, Mr Wan Tin-chong and representatives from local organisations and government departments.
Following the two sessions held on October 16 and November 3, the YTMDO, together with the Hong Kong Academy of School Managers and the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association, held a session on "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC" at the Tsim Sha Tsui hall on November 19. Member of the Standing Committee of the NPC Mr Tam Yiu-chung was invited as keynote speaker. He pointed out that the Report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC is of great significance to the future development of the country. It fully demonstrates the courage of the CPC in taking up its responsibilities and its current all-out efforts to push through changes. He emphasised that the principle of "one country, two systems" is an important component of the modernisation of socialism and a great initiative of the country, and its implementation must be adhered to over the long term. About 500 participants attended the session, including the District Officer (Yau Tsim Mong), Mr Edward Yu, school managers, teachers, members of the Tsim Sha Tsui District Kaifong Welfare Association, and members of various committees of Yau Tsim Mong District.
Following the two sessions held on October 28 and November 11, the STDO, together with the Hong Kong Federation of Trade Unions (FTU) Shatin District Service Office and East Teenagers Go Association, held a session on "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC and Hong Kong Youth Development Blueprint" at the Wu Kai Sha Youth Village on November 18. The District Officer (Sha Tin), Miss Carol Or, and Director of FTU Shatin District Service Office cum Advisor of East Teenagers GO Association Mr Au Chi-fai were invited as keynote speakers. They said that the report of the 20th National Congress of the CPC elaborated on the key points and meaning of the Chinese path to modernisation which enabled China to develop into the world's second largest economy within several decades. They also encouraged Hong Kong youths to study the history of modern China and deepen their understanding on the development of the country, so as to seize future strategic opportunities. About 30 youths in Sha Tin District attended the session.
In addition, the WCDO, together with the Hong Kong Wan Chai District Association, held a session on "Spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC" at Moreton Terrace Activities Centre on November 18. The Deputy Director General of the Hong Kong Island Sub-office of the LOCPG in the HKSAR, Mr Wang Hui; the Acting District Officer (Wan Chai), Ms Winnie Tong; the Chairman of the Hong Kong Wan Chai District Association, Dr Baldwin Cheng, and the President of the Hong Kong Wan Chai District Association, Mr Chong Chong-yip, were invited as sharing speakers. They said that the report of the 20th National Congress thoroughly summarised the achievements of the implementation of "one country, two systems". It fully demonstrates that "one country, two systems" is an ideal policy which maintains the long-term prosperity and stability of Hong Kong and serves the fundamental interests of the residents of Hong Kong. The WCDO will also work in line with the spirit of General Secretary Xi to strengthen its jobs and to be responsive to the people's needs. About 200 participants attended the session, including district leaders, members of Area Committees, District Fight Crime Committees and District Fire Safety Committees.
Other District Offices will be rolling out sessions to enable more district figures to obtain a deeper understanding of the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC.
