Toronto ETO hosts music seminar to celebrate HKSAR's 25th anniversary (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office (Toronto) (Toronto ETO) on October 15 (Toronto time) held a music seminar with Canadian young musicians and music students in Toronto, Canada, to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The seminar aimed to introduce the vibrant cultural environment in Hong Kong as well as the study and career opportunities in the city. A popular Canadian Hong Kong musician Wendyz Zheng joined to share her career development experience in the city as a speaker.
      
     The Director of the Toronto ETO, Ms Emily Mo, attended the music seminar entitled "Explore a Music Career in Hong Kong" and introduced to participants that Hong Kong is an ideal place for living, study and career development.
      
     Ms Mo noted that Hong Kong is a modern metropolis which shared many commonalities with Canada. In celebrating the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR, she highlighted that Hong Kong plays an irreplaceable role as the gateway to Asia, including the Mainland, which serves as the global economic engine. In addition to the economic competitiveness, she highlighted the city's growing strength in arts and cultural exchanges. "The many cultural and arts activities in Hong Kong not only enrich life experience, but also create room for young people to display their creativity and offer them job or study opportunities," Ms Mo said.
      
     She pointed out that the HKSAR Government is keen on attracting talents outside the city to work and to do business in Hong Kong. Apart from introducing various admission schemes for talents, professionals and entrepreneurs, she highlighted the Working Holiday Scheme in which young people of Canada can have a chance to acquire living and working experience in Hong Kong.
      
     She encouraged the participating young musicians as well as music students to seize the opportunities to seek jobs or further their studies in Hong Kong.
      
     At this seminar, famous Canadian Hong Kong musician, Ms Wendyz Zheng, shared her stories and experiences in developing her career in Hong Kong. Ms Zheng grew up in Canada, was educated at York University, Canada, and she moved to Hong Kong to develop her music career after graduation.  She is now a singer, a music composer and arranger, as well as a music program producer in Hong Kong.
                    
     On October 16 (Toronto time), the Toronto ETO also supported a concert titled "Dawn" at P.C. Ho Theatre of the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Toronto in Toronto to showcase the close cultural ties between Hong Kong and Canada. Over 60 Canadian musicians and choir members from the Ontario Cross-Cultural Music Society (OCMS) performed a series of music pieces, including the theme music piece "Dawn" which was jointly composed by the President of the OCMS, Mr Ken Zheng, and Ms Wendyz Zheng for the gala dinner in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the HKSAR in Toronto earlier in June.
