As part of a series of activities in celebration of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office in San Francisco (HKETO San Francisco) sponsored the 2022 San Francisco Dragon Boat Championships (the Championships) on September 24 and 25 (San Francisco time) at Lake Merced in San Francisco.

     With a focus on rebuilding the local dragon boat community through racing, the Championships organised by California Dragon Boat Association (the Association) featured competitive and recreational teams on September 24, and high school youth dragon boat teams on September 25. Near 50 heats were completed over the course of two days.

     A long-term supporter of the Association and the premier sponsor of the Championships, HKETO San Francisco set up a booth to share the latest information about Hong Kong to paddlers and race spectators. Through mini games and conversations about Hong Kong, representatives from HKETO San Francisco interacted with visitors to foster cultural exchanges. Hong Kong-style souvenirs were very well received among audience members.
