LCSD's "Chamber Music Connections" series to present "Simple Gifts" concert to music lovers in October
***************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD)'s "Chamber Music Connections" series will bring music lovers the "Simple Gifts" concert performed by local ensemble LENK Quartet in October. Featuring an array of chamber music over the ages, the concert will bring audience members intriguing melodies as simple but touching gifts to nourish their hearts.
In the concert, LENK Quartet will perform repertory works written by composers of different generations. These include classic pieces such as Rabl's "Quartet for Clarinet, Violin, Cello and Piano, Op. 1", and a transcribed work of Mozart's "Piano Quartet No. 2 in E-flat, K. 493" with clarinet playing added, which will bring an interesting twist to the performance. Contemporary classical pieces, including John Williams' "Air and Simple Gifts", Joshua Chan's "Fiery Rustles of Rain" and Ran's "Birkat Haderekh (Blessing for the Road)", will also be performed to convey hope and heartwarming blessings through music. For the finale of the programme, Del Aguila's "Disagree" will be staged. With a mix of different music styles, this performance not only allows the quartet to exhibit their artistry and chemistry among its members, but also allows the audience to experience the diversity and fun of the music world.
Established in 2021, LENK Quartet comprises veteran pianist Nancy Loo and three young chamber talents, violinist Kitty Cheung, cellist Eric Yip and clarinetist Linus Fung. LENK refers to the first letter of the names of the quartet members. The quartet is committed to giving top quality chamber performances with engaging techniques to audiences.
