CE listens to public views at Policy Address District Forum (with photos/video)

Following the 2022 Policy Address District Forum last Saturday (August 20), the Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, today (August 27) attended the second District Forum at Hong Kong Southern District Government Primary School to continue to listen to views and suggestions of members of the public on the upcoming Policy Address. About 100 people from all walks of life attended.
Twelve Principal Officials also participated in the District Forum, including the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Chan Kwok-ki; the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan; the Deputy Financial Secretary, Mr Michael Wong; the Deputy Secretary for Justice, Mr Horace Cheung; the Secretary for Security, Mr Tang Ping-keung; the Secretary for Environment and Ecology, Mr Tse Chin-wan; the Secretary for Health, Professor Lo Chung-mau; the Secretary for Housing, Ms Winnie Ho; the Secretary for the Civil Service, Mrs Ingrid Yeung; the Secretary for Education, Dr Choi Yuk-lin; the Secretary for Home and Youth Affairs, Miss Alice Mak; and the Secretary for Labour and Welfare, Mr Chris Sun.
The District Forum lasted two hours. In the first session, the Chief Executive and the Principal Officials listened to views of members of the public, covering a wide range of topics including land and housing, transport, economy, employment, education, youth, poverty alleviation, healthcare and social welfare and so on. In the second session, participants were divided into four groups to engage in extensive discussions with the Principal Officials. Mr Lee interacted with members of the public of each group in turn and listened to their views.
More than 10 consultation sessions have been held so far for the 2022 Policy Address, including the District Forums conducted today and last Saturday. The remaining some 10 sessions are video conferencing or physical meetings mainly with representatives from different sectors. The Chief Executive and the Principal Officials have also conducted district visits to meet with members of the public and tap the views of organisations and individuals from different sectors.
"I am grateful for the active participation of various sectors in the community in giving views for the 2022 Policy Address. My team and I have had very meaningful exchanges with the participants of the District Forum today. Strengthening the momentum for development and addressing people's livelihood issues are the responsibility of the SAR Government. Your valuable views help us formulate policy initiatives that meet the needs of society. I will actively consider people's views and spare no effort in working with my team to respond to the public aspirations," Mr Lee said.
The 2022 Policy Address will be delivered on October 19. Members of the public can continue to give their views through various channels, including the Policy Address website and dedicated social media platforms or by phone, email, fax or post.
