Cluster of Norovirus cases in Kowloon Hospital

The spokesperson for Kowloon Hospital (KH) made the following announcement today (June 29):
Seven patients and a staff member (aged 25 to 72) in a female psychiatric ward of KH presented with vomiting or diarrhoea symptoms since June 22. Six patients tested positive for Norovirus. They are being treated under isolation in KH and are in stable condition. The remaining patient has been transferred to Siu Lam Psychiatric Centre for hospitalisation and follow-up. The staff member concerned is on sick leave and in stable condition.
Infection control measures for the ward concerned have already been stepped up according to prevailing guidelines. Admission to and discharge from the ward were suspended. All other patients in the ward are under close medical surveillance.
The cases have been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
