***************************************************************
Hongkong Post announced today (June 17) that commemorative stamps and associated philatelic products on the theme of "The 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and "The 25th Anniversary of the Stationing of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Hong Kong" will be released for sale on July 1 (Friday).
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) in 2022, Hongkong Post will issue a set of commemorative stamps in four denominations, a souvenir sheet and other philatelic products. The commemorative stamps celebrate that the HKSAR has been brought back to the right track of "one country, two systems" after the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law and the improvement of the electoral system, which would help bring long-term stability and prosperity to the city. Such initiatives safeguard the country's sovereignty, security and development interests and ensure the steadfast and successful implementation of "one country, two systems". The stamps also feature the cultivation of a sense of national identity in students. At the same time, Hong Kong's proactive integration into the national development under the 14th Five-Year Plan and the development of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area will herald huge opportunities for young people and businesses in the decades ahead.
Since the stationing of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison in the HKSAR in 1997, the Hong Kong Garrison has upheld the principle of "one country, two systems", the Basic Law, the Law of the People's Republic of China on the Garrisoning of the HKSAR and the National Security Law and fulfilled the responsibility to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, providing the foundation for the prosperity and stability of Hong Kong. Hongkong Post will issue a stamp sheetlet on the theme of "The 25th Anniversary of the Stationing of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Hong Kong" to mark this special occasion.
Official first day covers for "The 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" and "The 25th Anniversary of the Stationing of the Chinese People's Liberation Army in Hong Kong" will be put on sale at all post offices from June 20, and on Hongkong Post's online shopping mall "ShopThruPost" (shopthrupost.hongkongpost.hk). These two sets of commemorative stamps and associated philatelic products will be on sale at all 37 philatelic offices and "ShopThruPost" from July 1 and will also be available at other non-philatelic offices from July 2. First day covers (prestige versions), the presentation pack (prestige version) and serviced first day covers affixed with the commemorative stamps/stamp sheetlets will be available at philatelic offices only.
A hand-back date-stamping service will be provided on July 1 from 9am to 2pm at all 37 philatelic offices for official first day covers/souvenir covers/privately made covers bearing the first day of issue indication and a local address. To observe social distancing and to avoid people gathering at the post offices, collection points will be set up at all philatelic offices on the same day for submission of the covers requesting hand-back date-stamping service. Customers will be advised on the collection schedule upon acceptance of the covers.
Information about these two sets of commemorative stamps and associated philatelic products is available on the Hongkong Post Stamps website (stamps.hongkongpost.hk) and in the "ShopThruPost" mobile app.
