Man given suspended jail sentence for obstructing public officers in execution of duty
**************************************************************************************
A man was sentenced to nine days' imprisonment suspended for 18 months by the Eastern Magistrates' Courts today (June 14) for obstructing public officers of the Food and Environmental Hygiene Department (FEHD) in the execution of duty.

On May 17 last year, FEHD officers found suspected mosquito larvaes on stagnant water during inspection at a construction site in Chek Lap Kok, and were obstructed by the defendant upon sample collection.

"Obstructing public officers in the execution of duty is inappropriate and also carries legal consequences. Members of the public should co-operate with public officers in the execution of their duties," an FEHD spokesman said.
