Appointment of Managing Director of Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority

The Chief Executive has appointed Mr Cheng Yan-chee as Managing Director and Executive Director of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) for a period of three years from June 10, 2022, to June 9, 2025, both dates inclusive. The appointment was made under sections 6A and 6B of the Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Ordinance (Cap. 485).
Announcing the appointment today (June 10), the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan, said, "Mr Cheng has been the Chief Corporate Affairs Officer of the MPFA since 2013 and the Acting Managing Director since June last year. He possesses extensive experience and is committed to leading the MPFA in taking forward the eMPF Platform Project and various reform measures of the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF) System, as well as driving organisational transformation to enhance operational efficiency. We have every confidence in Mr Cheng's leadership of the MPFA."
A selection panel, chaired by the Financial Secretary, made the recommendation on the appointment. Members of the selection panel include the Secretary for Financial Services and the Treasury, Mr Christopher Hui; Legislative Council Member Mr Martin Liao; the MPFA Chairman, Mrs Ayesha Macpherson Lau; and MPFA Non-Executive Director Mr Chan Kam-lam.
Upon assumption of office as the Managing Director, Mr Cheng's appointment as Acting Managing Director of the MPFA will cease on the same day.
