"Summer Family Screen" to bring cool films for hot days
***************************************************************

The Film Programmes Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present the "Summer Family Screen" to help cool off the hot season with five fabulous overseas films from August 6 to 14 at the Theatre of Hong Kong City Hall and the Cinema of the Hong Kong Film Archive. The programme is one of the highlights of the International Arts Carnival.

Honoured with the Audience Award of Filmpalast Astoria Zwickau, SCHLiNGEL International Film Festival 2020, the French film "The Fantastic Journey of Margot & Marguerite" (2020) depicts two girls individually living in 1942 and 2020, who look alike and are missing their fathers. A magical chest transports them through time to live each other's lives, where they embark on a wild adventure to explore their families' memories.

"Even Mice belong in Heaven" (2021) is a stop-motion animation co-produced by various European animation teams. It tells the story of a little mouse and a fox cub who unwittingly find themselves in animal heaven. In this strange environment, the two mortal enemies have to work together to succeed on their journey. With more than 80 scenes and nearly 100 character models created, such laborious production of stop-motion animation has been less seen in Europe in recent years. The film won the Best Animated Film of the Czech Lion Awards 2021 and the Best Animation Award of the Shanghai International Film Festival Golden Goblet Awards 2021.

Adapted from a well-known German children's book, "Laura's Star" (2021) has won the Audience Award of Croatia's Pulica in a Coat Festival, Pula Film Festival 2022. The main character, Laura, feels lonely after moving to her new home. One night, she sees a tiny star falling from the sky. Laura carefully treats the injured star and a magical friendship between them blossoms. Yet, Laura has to bid farewell to her great friend who eventually returns to the sky.

There are two other selections talking about adventures and team spirit. "Felix and the Treasure of Morgäa" (2021) centres on Felix, who sets off to find his missing father at sea with a retired sailor, a one-legged parrot and a smart cat. The journey leads them to a mysterious island, where a secret underground city and an incredible treasure exist, all relating to the whereabouts of Felix's father. "Rabbit Academy - Mission: Eggpossible" (2022) is a co-production by animators from Germany and Austria. It follows a bright team from the Rabbit Academy who protects magical golden eggs from a gang of city rabbits and a family of foxes. The team's trainees and a righteous fox battle enemies with their skills and intelligence, as well as finding out the key to success from a secret image in a cave.

All films have Chinese and English subtitles.
