***********************************************************************
The Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Mr Alfred Sit, visited the volunteer headquarters of the Hong Kong Community Anti-Coronavirus Link (the Anti-Coronavirus Link) at the Hong Kong Army Cadets in Kowloon Bay today (March 28) to show his support. He thanked the volunteers for setting examples for the Hong Kong community by inculcating a culture of positive attitude and fighting against the epidemic with their great efforts.

The Chief Convenor of the Hong Kong Volunteers Against Coronavirus and the Anti-Coronavirus Link, Dr Bunny Chan, accompanied Mr Sit for the visit. At the supplies storage area, Mr Sit was shown the logistical arrangements of the supplies distribution, from backend allocation and packaging to frontline door-to-door delivery. Mr Sit was then given a demonstration on the "anti-epidemic operation system", a management platform for volunteers and supplies inventory. The Anti-Coronavirus Link set up the "anti-epidemic operation system" with the help of CLP Power Hong Kong Limited. The system offers one-stop processing for stock keeping; registration of volunteers; receiving of supplies and handling the demand of volunteers; matching of volunteer services and supplies; as well as recording of volunteer service hours. It took about two weeks for the system's design and development, testing and launch.

Mr Sit said, "There is a huge demand from the community for both supplies and volunteer services under the fifth wave of epidemic. The volunteers and supplies inventory management platform is a result of collaboration of various enterprises, leveraging their technological expertise and creating synergy with their own advantages to make anti-epidemic work more efficient.

"Community efforts are very important in fighting against the epidemic. I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Central Government for supporting us with anti-epidemic supplies to meet the needs of Hong Kong in this battle. The Government will start distribution of anti-epidemic service bags soon and surely we have to mobilise district and community organisations in this huge exercise. My special thanks also go to the Anti-Coronavirus Link. With concerted efforts, the Link has been drawing together volunteers on all fronts to work together in containing the epidemic and help Hong Kong resume normal life as soon as possible."
