Government announces latest situation of fresh food supply from Mainland
***************************************************************
A Government spokesman announced today (February 17) that the vegetable supply from the Mainland increased by around 10 per cent while the supply of other fresh food remained steady yesterday (February 16).
According to the latest information, the throughput volume of vegetables from the Mainland for supply to the local market through the wholesale markets of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and the Vegetable Marketing Organization yesterday (as at midnight) increased over the day before, and stood at about 12 190 piculs (equivalent to about 738 000 kilograms), around 80 per cent of the volume of a normal day. The overall wholesale price continued to drop. The supply of chilled poultry and meat imported yesterday was around 60 per cent of that of a normal day. It is believed that the supply of the above-mentioned fresh food will gradually increase when the operation of the control point returns to normal. The supply of live pigs is operating as usual.
The AFCD will update and publish the fresh food supply information daily. Members of the public may visit the AFCD website for updates on daily supplies and wholesale prices of fresh food. (www.afcd.gov.hk/english/agriculture/agr_fresh/agr_fresh.html).
