LCSD to present acrobatic film "Cirkopolis" in "Cheers!" Series
***********************************************************************************
The Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) will present the acrobatic film "Cirkopolis" by Cirque Éloize from Canada during the Christmas holidays as one of the highlights of its "Cheers!" Series. Featuring innovative and diverse forms of acrobatic performance, the film offers audiences a thrilling escape from the daily drone.

The story begins in a modern metropolis setting in which acrobats and multidisciplinary artists seek a breakthrough amid the everyday monotony. When the veil of anonymity and solitude is lifted, the city is filled with bursts of humour and colour. Combining circus arts, theatre and dance, the performance is staged within an inventive stage design and accompanied by an original musical score and digital video projections, delivering fun and surprises for children and families.

Founded in 1993, Cirque Éloize has strived to renew circus arts and infuse new concepts into its work through its trademark efficiency and mastery of the proscenium stage as well as collaboration with talented directors from other disciplines. Cirque Éloize has so far presented more than 5,500 performances in over 550 cities.

"Cheers!" Series: "Cirkopolis" film screening by Cirque Éloize from Canada will be held at 8pm on December 25 (Saturday) and 4pm on December 26 (Sunday) at the Auditorium of the Kwai Tsing Theatre. Tickets priced at $60 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999.      Other highlights of the "Cheers!" Series include the dance film "The Secret Theatre" by the Scottish Ballet to be shown on December 25 and 26, and the live-streaming performance "Techno Circus" by SIRO-A to be staged on January 15 and 16, 2022.      All persons are required to use the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application to scan the venue QR code before they are allowed to enter LCSD offices and venues, except for exempted persons who are aged below 12 or aged 65 or above and those with disabilities that render use of the app difficult. Exemptions will also be granted to individual persons depending on the actual circumstances. All exempted persons are required to complete a record form to register their personal particulars and the date and time of their visits. As it will take time to verify personal particulars of exempted persons under the new arrangement, their waiting time for using public services or entering the relevant venues may be lengthened. The LCSD suggests that members of the public should arrive early and appeals for their understanding. The department also encourages the exempted persons to use the app as far as possible to save time.
