Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cannabis buds worth about $12 million (with photo)

During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in Yuen Long this morning, Customs officers intercepted a 26-year-old man and found about 3kg of suspected cannabis buds inside a plastic bag carried by him. He was then arrested. Customs officers later escorted the arrested man to a residential premises nearby for a search.
Customs officers further seized about 52kg of suspected cannabis buds in the premises and arrested a 30-year-old woman in the premises.
An investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
