Free admission to LCSD Cantonese Opera Day featuring delightful activities
***************************************************************
The annual programme Cantonese Opera Day, presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD), will be held on November 28 (Sunday) at the Hong Kong Cultural Centre (HKCC) and the Hong Kong Space Museum. Admission is free with tickets.
The Cantonese Opera Day, being held in its 19th year, offers a wide variety of activities for all ages, suitable for fans of Cantonese opera and families with children and the elderly. The talk "Cantonese Opera Chat and Learn" will start at noon first at the Hong Kong Space Museum, followed by a series of exciting performances which will take place at the HKCC in the afternoon. They include the "Cantonese Opera Excerpt Showcase" staged at the Grand Theatre, the "Cantonese Opera Excerpts and Cantonese Operatic Songs" performed by new talents and winners of the Hong Kong Schools Music Festival Cantonese Opera Competition at the Concert Hall, as well as the "Exhibition of Discovering the Cantonese Opera Heritage" to be held in the foyer area. Moreover, a number of talks and demonstration sessions on Cantonese opera (e.g. make-up, costume, music and singing in Cantonese opera) will be held in the Exhibition Gallery and Conference Rooms on Level 4 of the Administration Building.
Members of the public can collect free tickets at the performance venues. Tickets will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Details of the free ticket distribution are as follows:
- Activities at the HKCC: Free admission tickets will be distributed from 9am on November 18 (Thursday) at the enquiry counter of the HKCC. Each person may choose a maximum of any four activities. For the "Cantonese Opera Excerpt Showcase" (Grand Theatre) and the "Cantonese Opera Excerpts and Cantonese Operatic Songs" (Concert Hall), each person is entitled to a maximum of two marked-seat tickets randomly distributed for each of the performances. For other talks and demonstration sessions, each person can receive one ticket with free seating for each activity, with a maximum of two talks/demonstrations to be chosen.
- For the talk "Cantonese Opera Chat and Learn" at the Hong Kong Space Museum: Free admission tickets with marked seats will be distributed randomly at the entrance of the Lecture Hall of the Hong Kong Space Museum from 11am on the event day (November 28). Each person is entitled to one ticket.

All persons will be required to use the "LeaveHomeSafe" mobile application to scan the venue QR code before they are allowed to enter LCSD offices and venues except for exempted persons who are aged below 12 or aged 65 or above and those with disabilities that render use of the app difficult. Exemptions will also be granted to individual persons depending on the actual circumstances. All exempted persons are required to complete a record form to register their personal particulars and the date and time of their visits. As it will take time to verify personal particulars of exempted persons under the new arrangement, their waiting time for using public services or entering the relevant venues may be lengthened. The LCSD suggests members of the public to arrive early, and appeals for their understanding. The department also encourages the exempted persons to use the app as far as possible to save time.
