Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

ASB Biodiesel (Hong Kong) Limited was fined $500,000 at Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today (September 30) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Occupational Safety and Health Ordinance. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on October 30, 2019, at a biodiesel plant in Tseung Kwan O. While two workers were repairing a reaction tank, an explosion suddenly happened and they were seriously burned. They were sent to hospital for medical treatment and one of them passed away two weeks later.
