Correctional officers stop assault on person in custody

At 11.54am today, four male persons in custody aged from 27 to 52 attacked a 43-year-old male person in custody inside a dining hall. Officers at the scene immediately stopped the assailants and called for reinforcements.
During the incident, the victim sustained an injury to his head. After examination and treatment provided by the institution Medical Officer, he was referred to a public hospital for further treatment. The assailants did not sustain any injury.
The case has been reported to the Police for investigation.
The five persons in custody were sentenced to imprisonment for the offence of trafficking in a dangerous drug, burglary and remaining in Hong Kong without authority respectively.
