***************************************************************
The Transport Department (TD) announced today (June 25) that the "water taxi" ferry service will operate on a trial basis from July onwards.
The "water taxi" service is mainly of a sightseeing and tourism nature. Taking into consideration the latest developments of the epidemic situation and the tourism industry which has yet to recover, the operator (i.e. Fortune Ferry Company Limited) will launch a trial of the "Hung Hom - Tsim Sha Tsui East - Central (Circular)" short-working route service with operation on Saturday nights from July 3 onwards.
One departure of the short-working route will operate at 7.20pm on Saturdays from Hung Hom (South) Ferry Pier. Calling points will be provided at Tsim Sha Tsui Landing No. 1 (i.e. the waterfront beside the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui East) and Central Pier No. 9. Passengers can freely hop on and off at any calling point. The full journey time is approximately 70 minutes. Passengers can enjoy the spectacular night scene of Victoria Harbour and "A Symphony of Lights" during the journey. In addition, to celebrate the 24th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, the operator will operate a special departure on July 1 from Hung Hom (South) Ferry Pier at 7.20pm.
The adult full fare of the short-working route is $48, while the fares for each section are $10 (Hung Hom - Tsim Sha Tsui East) and $14 (Tsim Sha Tsui East - Central) respectively. The operator will provide a half-fare concession for children, the elderly and persons with disabilities. For the ticketing arrangements, please visit the operator's website: www.hongkongwatertaxi.com.hk.
The TD and the operator will closely monitor the change in passenger demand and strengthen the service when necessary.
The service details of the short-working route are available at the TD's website: www.td.gov.hk.
