Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected gamma-butyrolactone and suspected methamphetamine (with photo)

Customs officers inspected a parcel arriving from Lithuania at an express courier company in Cheung Sha Wan and seized about 25 kilograms of suspected GBL inside a plastic bottle.
After follow-up investigation, Customs officers in the afternoon arrested two men suspected to be in connection with the case at an industrial building flat in Kowloon Bay. About 1 kilogram of suspected GBL, 5 grams of suspected methamphetamine and drug inhalation apparatus were also seized.
The two arrested men, aged 48 and 25, claimed to be unemployed.
The case is still under investigation.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
