Consultation period on fourth CEDAW report outline extended to May 31
*********************************************************************
The Government is preparing for the submission of the fourth report, and on March 1 issued a draft outline to seek views from members of the public. The Labour and Welfare Bureau (LWB) and the Women's Commission (WoC) held a public consultation session on April 25 for the public and interested parties to express their views.
To allow more time for the public to submit views, the deadline for submission of comments on the draft outline has been extended to May 31. A second public consultation session will be held by the LWB and the WoC for interested members of the public, with details as follows:
Date: May 16 (Wednesday)
Time: 3pm to 5pm
Venue: Conference Hall, 2/F, West Wing, Central Government Offices, 2 Tim Mei Avenue, Tamar
Those who would like to attend the consultation session may reserve a seat with the WoC Secretariat by phone (2810 3827) during office hours (9am to 1pm, 2pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday) or complete and return the reply slip by fax (2501 0478) or email (cedaw_consultation@lwb.gov.hk). Seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
The draft outline can be downloaded from the website of the LWB (www.lwb.gov.hk) and the WoC (www.women.gov.hk), or obtained from the Home Affairs Enquiry Centres in 18 districts.
