Guinness World Record set at "One-Arm Push Up Challenge" Closing Ceremony (with photos)

     The Hong Kong Police Force today (April 7) held the “One-Arm Push Up Challenge” Closing Ceremony, with 300 participants including members of the Police Force and Auxiliary Police, and sports elites taking part in the event to set a record for the “Most people performing one-arm push ups” in the Guinness World Records.

     The Challenge was the first event co-organised by the Police Public Relations Branch and the Society for Abandoned Animals to promote the message of caring for animals and raise funds for the abandoned and disabled animals. Upon the Challenge was launched on January 28, the Police Force mounted a 10-week publicity campaign on online platforms to encourage the public to do one-arm push ups to experience the hardship of disabled animals and raise funds for the animals.
 
     Speaking at the closing ceremony, Police Director of Operations, Mr Tang Ping-keung, expressed gratitude to the community, including sports elites, artistes, community leaders and the public for their active participation and support to the Challenge which resulted in a donation amounting to more than $1 million for the Society for Abandoned Animals.

     At the closing ceremony, participants performed one-arm push ups together in one minute, setting a record for the “Most people performing one-arm push ups” in the Guinness World Records and delivering the messages of caring for animals and respect for life to the community.

     Other officiating guests at the closing ceremony included the Founder of Society for Abandoned Animals, Ms El Chan, the Commandant of Hong Kong Auxiliary Police Force, Mr Yang Joe-tsi, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Support), Ms Lam Hiu-tong, the Assistant Commissioner of Police (Personnel), Mr Siu Chak-yee, China’s Olympic gold medalist in gymnastics, Mr Li Xiaopeng, and the Associate Professor of Department of Physical Education, Hong Kong Baptist University, Dr Lobo Louie Hung-tak.
