Twenty-three building plans approved in January

     The Buildings Department approved 23 building plans in January, with seven on Hong Kong Island, 11 in Kowloon and five in the New Territories.

     Of the approved plans, 13 were for apartment and apartment/commercial developments, seven were for commercial developments, two were for factory and industrial developments and one was for community services developments.

     In the same month, consent was given for work to start on 10 building projects that, when completed, will provide 199 859 square metres of gross floor area for domestic use involving 3 259 units, and 62 932 sq m of gross floor area for non-domestic use. The department has received notification of commencement of work for 11 building projects.

     The department also issued 17 occupation permits, with five on Hong Kong Island, four in Kowloon and eight in the New Territories.

     Of the buildings certified for occupation, the gross floor area for domestic use was 35 313 sq m involving 344 units, and 46 733 sq m was for non-domestic use.

     The declared cost of new buildings completed in January totalled about $4.2 billion.

     In addition, six demolition consents involving six building structures were issued.

     The department received 3 429 reports about unauthorised building works in January and issued 509 removal orders on unauthorised items.
