Regional Traffic Day of Hong Kong Island

The operation concluded at 7pm and a total of 317 officers from Traffic Hong Kong Island and District Traffic Teams of Eastern, Wan Chai, Central and Western Districts were deployed to enforce traffic regulations at traffic black spots on Hong Kong Island.
A total of 1,024 FPTs were issued for illegal parking and 197 for other traffic offences.
Besides, four pedestrians were cautioned for committing minor traffic offences.
Statistics revealed that a total of 292 traffic accidents involving casualties occurred on Hong Kong Island in January 2018, of which 73 cases with pedestrians injured. Among the traffic accidents with pedestrians injured, 34.2 per cent were attributed to the negligence of pedestrians.
