The Secretary for Transport and Housing, Mr Frank Chan Fan, visited Wan Chai this afternoon (February 21) to update himself on the latest progress of transport infrastructure projects and community services in the district.

     Accompanied by the Chairman of the Wan Chai District Council (WCDC), Mr Stephen Ng, and the District Officer (Wan Chai), Mr Rick Chan, Mr Chan observed construction work on two major transport infrastructures in Wan Chai, namely the Central-Wan Chai Bypass and the Shatin to Central Link (SCL). He was briefed by the Deputy Project Manager/Major Works of the Highways Department, Mr Ng Wai-keung, and the General Manager - SCL of the MTR Corporation Limited, Mr TM Lee, on the works progress.

     Afterwards, Mr Chan visited the St James' Settlement Kin Chi Dementia Care Support Service Centre (Wan Chai) to learn about the facilities and services for the elderly in the district. He chatted with elderly people there to better understand their daily life and wished them good health.

     To conclude his district visit, Mr Chan met with members of the WCDC to listen to their views on transport and housing issues.
