Update on cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter cases in Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) gave the following update today (December 22) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of inpatients with Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a male surgical ward:
One more male patient, age 73, was confirmed today to have MDRA without clinical symptoms. He had earlier been discharged upon recovery.
QEH will continue the enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation in the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow up.
