Special traffic and transport arrangements for car racing event in Central, religious events at Hong Kong Stadium and public procession on Hong Kong Island

Car racing event in Central (December 2 and 3)

From about 1.15am on December 2 to 5.15am on December 4, road closure and traffic diversions will be implemented in the vicinity of Central waterfront (including Man Kwong Street, Man Yiu Street, Lung Wo Road, Yiu Sing Street, Man Cheung Street and Man Po Street). Owing to the road closure, a total of 33 bus routes and nine green minibus (GMB) routes will be diverted or stops will be temporarily relocated.
Religious events at Hong Kong Stadium (December 2 and 3)

Before and after the events on December 2 and 3, roads in the vicinity of Hong Kong Stadium (including Caroline Hill Road, Hysan Avenue, Cotton Path and Eastern Hospital Road) will be closed subject to the actual situation. Owing to the road closures, two bus routes and three GMB routes will be diverted. In addition, three special bus services will operate from Hong Kong Stadium to Yiu Tung Estate, Siu Sai Wan and Mong Kok respectively after the events.
Public procession from Wan Chai Southorn Playground to Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal in Central (December 3 afternoon)

At about 2pm on December 3, a public procession will be held at Wan Chai Southorn Playground and depart from Wan Chai Southorn Playground via Luard Road, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound, Queen's Road Central westbound, Des Voeux Road Central westbound, and will terminate at the Hong Kong Court of Final Appeal in Central. To facilitate the above public procession, the following traffic and transport arrangements will be implemented on Hong Kong Island:
* From about 2pm, the roads in the vicinity of Wan Chai Southorn Playground (including Johnston Road, the section of Luard Road and Fenwick Street between Johnston Road and Hennessy Road) will be closed;
* From about 2.30pm, Hennessy Road westbound, Queensway westbound and the section of Des Voeux Road Central eastbound between Ice House Street and Queen's Road Central will be intermittently closed; and
* A total of 12 bus routes and two GMB routes will be diverted or stops will be temporarily relocated.
The TD anticipates that the traffic in the vicinity of Central, Admiralty, Wan Chai, Causeway Bay and So Kon Po will be very congested. Motorists are advised to avoid driving to the affected areas unless necessary, be patient in case of traffic congestion and follow the Police's instruction.
Public transport commuters to/from Hong Kong Island should pay attention to the arrangements for route diversions and stop relocation, particularly passengers taking ferry services when heading for Central Piers. The travelling time and frequency of the affected public transport services may become unstable. Members of the public are advised to plan their journey early and allow ample time for travelling, and use railway services when going to the aforementioned areas.
The TD and the Police will closely monitor the traffic situation and implement appropriate measures as necessary. Members of the public should stay alert to the latest traffic news on radio and television.
