Fatal traffic accident in Chai Wan

At about 12.11pm, a heavy goods vehicle (HGV) driven by a 62-year-old man was travelling along Tung Hei Road westbound. When passing Mong Lung Street, it reportedly knocked down the 82-year-old woman who was crossing the road.
Sustaining foot injuries, the woman was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in unconscious state and was certified dead at 1.44pm.
The HGV driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and is being detained for further enquiries.
Investigation by the Special Investigation Team of Traffic, Hong Kong Island is underway.
