Accomplished jazz musicians Antonio Sanchez and Migration to perform in November
***************************************************************
Antonio Sanchez and Migration will perform the album "The Meridian Suite" in a concert in November. The show is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department.
Antonio Sanchez and Migration released "The Meridian Suite" in 2015. Sanchez has described the work as "my attempt to write in novel form rather than in short stories", and his music has an absorbing tale to tell.
Noting that the band has been busy with live performances, Sanchez said, "The band has been evolving exponentially and we've achieved a level of consistency and interaction that can only be acquired through extensive touring. 'The Meridian Suite' has proved to be one of the most fun and rewarding live experiences of my career. We've been performing it in its entirety in all kind of venues all over the world for more than a year, and it's still growing, morphing and developing. Seamus Blake, Thana Alexa, John Escreet and Matt Brewer have been the perfect combination of musical personalities that have made this kind of growth possible."
Antonio Sanchez is a four-time Grammy Award winner. The soundtrack of the movie "Birdman" won him a Grammy Award, and it also picked up nominations for a Golden Globe and the BAFTA Award for Best Film Music.
Sanchez's five-piece band Migration features some of the finest musicians from New York City: Seamus Blake on saxophone, John Escreet on piano, Matt Brewer on bass and Thana Alexa on vocals.
"Jazz Up series: Antonio Sanchez and Migration" will be staged at 8pm on November 24 (Friday) at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets are priced from $180 to $480.
