Globally acclaimed choir The Sixteen to return in October
*********************************************************
Internationally acclaimed as one of the best choirs in the world, The Sixteen will return to Hong Kong for a performance in October.

Led by founder and conductor Harry Christophers, The Sixteen will perform works by two masters of sacred choral music - the Italian Renaissance composer Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, and the 20th-century French composer Francis Poulenc.

Established by Harry Christophers with a group of 16 friends, The Sixteen always sound as one voice regardless of the number of members performing. Their commitment to choral music is characterised by an impressive repertoire ranging from early English polyphony to Renaissance masterpieces and contemporary a cappella choral works.

Over the years The Sixteen's 140-plus recordings have spanned the music of five centuries, in the process garnering most of the important recording awards including the Diapason d'Or, Gramophone Award for Early Music and the Classical Brit Award for Renaissance. The choir was also given the accolade of Artist of the Year in 2009 by the classical music magazine "Gramophone", a testament to their outstanding achievements.

The concert by The Sixteen is presented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department. It will be held at 8pm on October 6 (Friday) at the Concert Hall of Hong Kong City Hall. Tickets priced at $160, $240, $320 and $380 are now available at URBTIX (www.urbtix.hk). For telephone credit card bookings, please call 2111 5999.
