Construction Safety Week holds its first carnival (with photos)
***************************************************************
The Development Bureau (DEVB) and the Construction Industry Council (CIC) today (September 23) held the first Constructions Safety Week Carnival during Construction Safety Week to promote construction safety.
The carnival was officiated by the Permanent Secretary for Development (Works), Mr Hon Chi-keung, and the Chairman of the CIC, Mr Chan Ka-kui. Over 400 construction practitioners and other attending guests were invited to put on safety vests to form the world's "Largest Human Image of a Safety Vest" to demonstrate the unity of the construction industry in promoting construction safety. The attempt was recognised by the Guinness World Records. Interesting and educational game booths were also set up at the carnival to enable construction workers and members of the public learn more about construction safety.
The DEVB and the CIC jointly organised the sixth Construction Safety Week this year and under the theme "Workers' Behaviour" to promote a zero-accident working environment by managing the on-site behaviour of construction workers. The Construction Safety Week this year will be held until September 26 and construction site visits and a Considerate Contractors Site Award Scheme Award Presentation Ceremony will be held later.
