************************************************
Mr Nip first visited SKH All Saints' Middle School, where he met with a group of Form 4 to Form 6 students, and received a briefing by the school principal on the support rendered by the school in helping newly arrived students adapt to school life and living in Hong Kong. The support given includes organising English tutorial classes, awarding scholarships and introducing mentorship programmes.
He also took the opportunity to chat with some newly arrived students to better understand their adaptation to studying in Hong Kong, and was glad to learn that they are enjoying school life and have been actively participating in extra-curricular activities to broaden their horizons.
Mr Nip then visited the school's STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) lab and was shown various creative projects by the students, including some award-winning designs. With the rapid development of technology nowadays, he encouraged the young people to exercise their creativity and make use of innovation and technology to pursue their dreams.
Mr Nip also visited an ethnic minority family and a newly arrived family living in cubicle flats to learn about their daily life and needs as well as the problems they have encountered.
"Hong Kong is a diverse and inclusive society. We will spare no effort in providing services that cater for the needs of ethnic minorities and new arrivals, helping them integrate into society and promoting equal opportunities to them in the community," he said.
After the home visit, Mr Nip met with members of YTMDC to exchange views on district and community matters. He expressed his gratitude to the District Council members for their dedication in serving the public and participating in community affairs.
