Update on cluster of Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter case in Queen Elizabeth Hospital

The spokesperson for Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH) gave the following update today (September 1) regarding an earlier announcement on a cluster of inpatients with Multi-drug Resistant Acinetobacter (MDRA) in a male medical ward:
One more 79-year-old male patient was confirmed today to have MDRA without clinical symptoms. He is under medical surveillance and isolation and in stable condition.
QEH will continue its enhanced infection control measures and closely monitor the situation in the ward. The case has been reported to the Hospital Authority Head Office and the Centre for Health Protection for necessary follow-up.
