The expanded TIAB will merge with the Textiles Advisory Board. It will continue to advise the Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development and relevant government departments on matters affecting Hong Kong's trade and industry, including trade in textiles and garments, trade relations with the Mainland, the Belt and Road Initiative, the development plan for a city cluster in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Bay Area and the Mainland and Hong Kong Closer Economic Partnership Arrangement.
The Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development, Mr Edward Yau, thanked the members for accepting the appointments. He said, "The expanded TIAB comprises representatives from business chambers, enterprises and professional sectors as well as young people. I will invite members to explore in particular how Hong Kong can take part gainfully in the Belt and Road Initiative and the Bay Area development. With the experience and expertise of the members in their respective sectors, I am confident that they will offer valuable advice on these aspects.
