****************************************************************
The Legislative Council (LegCo) launched a thematic exhibition entitled "Looking Back and Ahead" to mark the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong's return to China and to enhance public understanding of the work of LegCo and its Members since July 1, 1997.
The exhibition, which runs from today (July 3) to July 31, is staged at the Main Lobby and the LegCo Library of the LegCo Complex. Apart from highlighting the changes of the composition and the work of LegCo in the past two decades, the exhibition displays valuable historical photos and selected items from the LegCo Library, Archives, and a gift collection from dignitaries. There are also game booths and an "Art Tree".
The President of LegCo, Mr Andrew Leung said "Hong Kong's return to China marked a new chapter for Hong Kong. Over the past 20 years, LegCo has been discharging its powers and functions in accordance with the Basic Law. I hope that, through the exhibition, members of the public will have an opportunity to revisit the historical development of the Legislature and a better understanding of its work."
During the said period, guided educational tours of the LegCo Complex will cover the exhibition. Members of the public are welcome to visit the exhibition from 9am to 6pm, or join a guided educational tour free of charge.
