President Xi arrives in Hong Kong for three-day visit (with photos/video)

President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrived in Hong Kong at noon today (June 29) for a three-day visit to attend the activities in celebration of the 20th anniversary of Hong Kong’s return to the motherland and the Inaugural Ceremony of the Fifth Term Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR).
They were greeted by the Chief Executive, Mr C Y Leung, his wife Mrs Regina Leung and the Chief Executive-elect, Mrs Carrie Lam, at the airport apron.
Other members of the welcoming party included Vice-Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, Mr Tung Chee Hwa; the Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the HKSAR, Mr Zhang Xiaoming; the Chief Justice of the Court of Final Appeal, Mr Geoffrey Ma Tao-li; the Chief Secretary for Administration, Mr Matthew Cheung Kin-chung; the Financial Secretary, Mr Paul Chan; the Secretary for Justice, Mr Rimsky Yuen, SC; the President of the Legislative Council, Mr Andrew Leung; the Convenor of the Non-official Members of the Executive Council, Mr Lam Woon-kwong; the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China in the HKSAR, Mr Xie Feng; the Commander-in-chief of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr Tan Benhong; and the Political Commissar of the Chinese People's Liberation Army Hong Kong Garrison, Mr Yue Shixin.
After disembarking from the plane, President Xi shook hands with the welcoming party and spoke to reporters.
