Musical fantasy "Éphémère the Little Witch" to bring enchanted woodlands to life onstage (with photo)
***************************************************************
"Éphémère the Little Witch", a musical fantasy produced by the Hong Kong 3 Arts Musical Institute, will be staged in early August. Adapted from the French musical "La Sorcière Éphémère", this Hong Kong version (in Cantonese) stays faithful to the original work. Delightful songs, imaginative lighting and special effects add to the atmospheric production, bringing enchanted woodlands vividly to life.
The musical "La Sorcière Éphémère", which has had more than 800 performances in France, has been praised for its enchanting music and special effects that take the audience into a magical world. The story tells about the adventure of Éphémère the Little Witch who lives deep in a spellbinding forest with her stepmother. The household is suffering from hard times with their sorcery business on the slide. One day, a bankrupt businessman visits, asking for a spell to be cast on his competitor and promising a large sum of money if they succeed. Unfortunately, nothing happens as planned. Can the two heroines succeed in the end and get their lives out of misery?
The production's artistic director, Mohamed Drissi, invited original playwright Dominique Lefebvre to Hong Kong to act as the directing consultant of the upcoming performances. Freddy Wong is the director and translator, Jordan Cheng wrote the Cantonese lyrics and is the vocal coach, and the cast includes Jarita Wan, Gigi Cheng and Simon Lo.
