Public housing tenants reminded of fire safety
**********************************************
The increasingly popular use of digital products may impose fire risks in our households as overcharging these gadgets can cause overheating and fires.
As part of its ongoing fire safety education, the Hong Kong Housing Authority (HA) has recently produced a poster for display in the lift lobby of each public rental housing (PRH) block to remind tenants of the risks of overcharging gadgets or charging them overnight.
The HA attaches great importance to fire safety education for its public housing tenants. In addition to regular fire drills organised once every two years for every domestic block, fire safety tips and information are regularly shared in video broadcasts on the Housing Channel - a video network in PRH estates, local radio channels, and in posters with various fire prevention themes.
Illustrations showing the proper procedures to operate a fire hose are also displayed next to every hose reel in PRH Estates for tenants' easy reference in case of fire.
As part of the HA's year-round fire safety campaign, "Estate Fire Safety Fun Fair", fire safety messages are conveyed to tenants in a memorable but fun way throughout the year at public housing estates.
The Fire Services Department also helps to spread fire safety messages to PRH tenants by sending its Mobile Publicity Unit and Fire Safety Education Bus to public housing estates, and offering training to tenants wishing to become official Fire Safety Ambassadors and Trainers.
