The Chairman of the Volunteers Corps and the Assistant Director (Legal Service) of Housing Department (HD), Mrs Kitty Yan, said today (May 29), "Under the guidance of a tutor, forty members and colleagues made a total of 300 rice dumplings last Saturday (May 27) morning and presented them to elderly tenants in the afternoon."
"The HD Volunteers Corps organised a festive gathering that afternoon at Lai Kok Community Hall, Cheung Sha Wan for 150 elderly tenants from Fortune Estate, Lai Kok Estate and Lai On Estate. Apart from presenting to the elderly rice dumplings and lucky bags, a guest speaker also gave a health talk and some members of the Volunteers Corps sang their hearts out on the spot. We hope the elderly tenants could feel the warmth through such activities during this festive occasion," Mrs Yan said.
The Volunteers Corps cares about elderly tenants residing in public rental housing. Members of the Volunteers Corps usually organise celebratory activities or arrange home visits for them during major festivals.
