Levels of medical expenses under Employees' Compensation Ordinance and Pneumoconiosis and Mesothelioma (Compensation) Ordinance

Having regard to the Government's announcement today (May 22) on the implementation of new fees and charges for public healthcare services, the Labour Department (LD) will commence the consultation and legislative amendment work on corresponding adjustments to the daily maximum rates of medical expenses under the Employees' Compensation Ordinance and the Pneumoconiosis and Mesothelioma (Compensation) Ordinance.

"According to the established mechanism, the daily maximum rates of medical expenses under the two aforementioned Ordinances are linked to public healthcare service fees and charges. We are formulating a proposal on the corresponding adjustments and will consult relevant stakeholders, the Labour Advisory Board and the Legislative Council Panel on Manpower as soon as possible," the spokesman of the LD said.
