Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cocaine and suspected methamphetamine (with photo)

During an anti-narcotics operation in Kwai Chung yesterday afternoon, Customs officers intercepted a man and found about 2.3kg of suspected cocaine inside a bag carried by him. The man, aged 47, was arrested. After investigation, Customs officers escorted the arrested person to a residential premises nearby where about 80g of suspected methamphetamine, a small quantity of suspected crack cocaine, a batch of drug-inhaling apparatus as well as drug manufacturing and packaging paraphernalia were seized. A woman, aged 28, was arrested inside the premises.
The arrested man and woman claimed to be unemployed and a sales representative respectively. Investigation is ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
