Public alerted to fraudulent website purporting to be related to insurers

     The Office of the Commissioner of Insurance today (March 31) alerted the public to a fraudulent website (www.chinawea.cn/) that purports to be the official website of six authorised insurers in Hong Kong, AXA China Region Insurance Company (Bermuda) Limited, AXA China Region Insurance Company Limited, AXA Corporate Solutions Assurance, AXA General Insurance Hong Kong Limited, AXA Life Insurance Company Limited and AXA Wealth Management (HK) Limited (collectively referred to as "AXA HK"). AXA HK has confirmed that it has no connection with the fraudulent website.

     The case has been reported to the Hong Kong Police Force for further investigation. Anyone who has provided personal information to the website or has conducted any insurance transactions through the website should contact the AXA HK Customer Services Hotlines at 2802 2812 (Life Insurance) or 2523 3061 (General Insurance), AXA Corporate Solutions Assurance at 2161 0000, or any local police station.

     Any company conducting insurance business in or from Hong Kong must be authorised by the Insurance Authority under the Insurance Companies Ordinance (Cap. 41).
