Appointments to Advisory Committee on Gifted Education

Eight members were also appointed to the ACGE, namely Professor Cheng Suk-han, Dr John Tan Kang, Sister Anita Kwok Ming-ying, Ms Sonia Cheng Chi-man, Dr Allen Fung Yuk-lun, Ms Cecilia Lee Sau-wai, Ms Carrie Leung Ka-lai and Dr Lam Hiu-fung.
The Secretary for Education, Mr Eddie Ng Hak-kim, said, "With Dr Pang's rich experience in community service and enthusiasm in nurturing talents for Hong Kong, we believe that he will steer the ACGE to provide invaluable advice to the Government in gifted education development with a view to nurturing future pillars of society."
The Finance Committee of the Legislative Council approved a commitment of $800 million in 2016 for the Education Bureau to set up the Gifted Education Fund (GE Fund) for further promoting the development of gifted education in Hong Kong. It is also recommended to set up the ACGE to advise the Secretary for Education on the development of gifted education in Hong Kong and the use of the GE Fund, so as to nurture gifted students suitably by unleashing their potential to contribute to Hong Kong's future.
