Appointments to new term of Steering Committee of Pilot Green Transport Fund

     The Environmental Protection Department (EPD) today (March 23) announced the appointments to the Steering Committee of the Pilot Green Transport Fund for a new two-year term starting on April 1, 2017.

     The Steering Committee comprises representatives elected by the transport sectors, experts and academics in green innovative transport technologies, as well as representatives of relevant government departments. It will continue to be chaired by the President of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor Timothy Tong.

     The Secretary for the Environment, Mr Wong Kam-sing, said, "I am deeply grateful for members' invaluable advice to the Government on the approval of funding support for testing green innovative transport technologies. While bidding farewell to outgoing members, I look forward to the continued support of all members of the new term to help improve roadside air quality and reduce carbon emissions."

     The Fund was set up in March 2011 to encourage the transport sector to test green innovative and low-carbon transport technologies. The Steering Committee is to advise the Government on the approval of funding for relevant applications.
