The annual spectacular Hong Kong Flower Show at Victoria Park will close at 9pm tomorrow (March 19). Members of the public who wish to see the tens of thousands of beautiful flowers at the event should not miss the last chance to visit.
A series of delightful activities have been arranged to complement the flower show including a special evening programme "Extravaganza" to be held today (March 18) from 8pm to 9.30pm on the ceremonial stage, offering dance, catwalk and magic performances and more with lighting, visual and sound effects to present an evening of dazzling entertainment.
Among the fringe activities was the Jockey Club Student Drawing Competition that was held last week and had its prize presentation ceremony today.
The competition was conducted in four categories. Winning entries by the champion, the first and second runners-up and those highly commended in each category are now on display at the showground. The champions of each category are as follows:
Junior Section in Primary School:
Levannah Guzman from Northern Lamma School
Senior Section in Primary School:
Wong Chun-shing from Tseung Kwan O Catholic Primary School
Junior Section in Secondary School:
Chan Sze-ting from Victoria Shanghai Academy
Senior Section in Secondary School:
Man Tsz-yau from Tin Shui Wai Government Secondary School
Other activities have been well received including talks, music, dance and marching band performances, floral art demonstrations, green activities workshops and fun games, attracting crowds of visitors.
Gorgeous landscape displays are hot spots for photo-taking such as the spectacular exhibit "Magnificent True Love", featuring a sculptural centrepiece of four roses; an impressive tulip display with around 14 000 flowers in a variety of colours; and the mosaiculture display "Park Fun", depicting traditional rides in plant sculptures.
This year's flower show is one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. It is open from 9am to 9pm (the opening hours will be extended to 10pm today). Admission tickets are being sold at the entrances to the Victoria Park showground throughout the show period. Octopus can also be used to pay for admission.
