Fringe activities complement flower show at Victoria Park (with photos)
***********************************************************************
Special evening shows have been arranged this year including the "Show Your Moves: Dance Performances and Play-in" and "Extravaganza" performances being held today (March 17) and tomorrow (March 18) respectively from 8pm to 9.30pm on the ceremonial stage. The former will feature dance experts who will heat up the stage with a medley of acts, and audience members are welcome to join in. The latter will offer dance, catwalk and magic performances and more with lighting, visual and sound effects, presenting an evening of dazzling entertainment.
Other programmes include talks, culinary art demonstrations, music and dance performances. There will also be floral art demonstrations by masters from Japan and Hong Kong.
The "Happy Wonderland" on the park's central lawn provides fun-filled programmes such as magic shows, balloon-twisting, face-painting, African drum playing, arts-and-crafts stalls, games stalls and more. Equally entertaining are the marching band performances. Visitors can also take a coffee break and enjoy music performances in the floral marquee where entries of the plant exhibit competition are being displayed.
As one of the highlights, the floral display and landscaped gardens in the showground are enhanced with light effects to showcase the beauty of flowers in full bloom during the day and at night.
This year's flower show is one of the events celebrating the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The flower show is open from 9am to 9pm (the opening hours will be extended to 10pm today and tomorrow). Admission tickets are being sold at the entrances to the Victoria Park showground throughout the show period. Octopus can also be used to pay for admission.
For enquiries, please call 2601 8260 or visit the Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) webpage www.lcsd.gov.hk/en/hkfs/2017/index.html.
The flower show is organised by the LCSD. The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust is supporting the flower show for the fifth consecutive year, and has been the Major Sponsor of the flower show since 2014.
