Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected cannabis buds and suspected cocaine (with photos)

Customs officers yesterday intercepted an incoming vehicle at Shenzhen Bay Control Point and found the suspected cannabis buds in the suitcase carried by a 45-year-old male passenger onboard the vehicle. Customs officers also uncovered the suspected cocaine, camouflaged as eight bars of soap, from the check-in suitcase of a 73-year-old male passenger arrived in Hong Kong from Brazil via Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Investigations of the two cases are ongoing.
Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
